I am a Former Lawyer, Legal CV Writer and Interview Coach

I followed the standard route to qualification – LLB degree (first class Hons), LPC (with distinction), followed by a training contract with a legal 500 regional firm in Kent, with a specialist interest in Commercial Property. I have worked in the property arm of a renowned housing association, and as a solicitor for a start up London firm. More recently I worked as a Consultant in equity release, neighbour disputes and commercial property.

I have always been quite skilled in writing my own career literature (CVs and cover letters). I would estimate around 7/10 jobs I applied to I would be called for interview. Whilst taking a break from law to raise my family, I took up CV writing with a top company, and quickly developed a passion for helping others progress in their careers. This encouraged me to study and gain a qualification in career coaching. I also mentored law students as part of the GROW scheme, providing tailored application advice, guidance and interview support to help them achieve their career aspirations.

Having written hundreds of CVs, I truly understand how to quickly add value and showcase a person’s skills, experience and achievements to make them stand out from the non crowd in this overcrowded market.

A little bit more about me…

As a young law graduate I found entering the legal profession challenging – mostly due to the lack of support and guidance. All members of my family are medical. I, however fainted whilst watching eye surgery during work experience, so that was never for me!

I was lucky enough to secure interviews relatively easily based on the strength of my applications. I spent a lot of time interviewing for large city firms including silver circle before realising they were not the right fit for me. I then focused on legal 500 firms, and eventually accepted a training contact with a regional heavyweight.

I started writing CVs in between legal jobs as I wanted to spend more time at home raising my family. Initially I wrote CVs for all industries and specialisms, before focusing solely on the legal sector. I strongly believe that a writer with a practical insight and technical understanding of your field can produce a much stronger CV for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do you charge for your services?

I charge a fixed fee depending on your experience – £149 for Law Students and Graduates, £349 for NQ+. The fee includes unlimited revisions until you are 100% happy with the same. I am that confident in my services.

Does the fixed fee include a consultation and or revisions?
I am more than happy to give you a call and run through any questions you have before making a start on your CV and / or cover letter, just let me know when you place your order and I will contact you to arrange a convenient time. The fee includes revisions.
I have an urgent deadline can you do a quick turnaround?
I have a set time frame of 7 business days for a first draft – I do not offer any expedited services. Please only order if you are happy with the turnaround time.
How does the CV writing process work?
CV writing is a joint effort – I need the information from you to be able to gear the CV towards the type of job / role you are after. The more specific you are, the better I can tailor the CV. Regarding your past experience, even from different industries, I will revamp and reword where I think appropriate to give the CV more impact but you will need to review and ensure what is written accurately reflects your roles and responsibilities. I may also need further information from you such as achievements and highlights from your roles.

I will send you a first draft to review, and from there we can make any amendments and adjustments as you see fit.

What about law firm cover letters or applications?

I provide both cover letter writing or application review for a set rate of £249.

I request that you send me a copy of any draft cover letter or application in word format, together with the job description or online posting.

Do you prepare CVs for international use or UK only?
The legal CVs I prepare are based on the general standards / requirements expected in the UK legal job market, which I have been trained in. That said, you can still order a CV (or cover letter review) from me if you are abroad, then make any adjustments according to your local requirements. For example, in some countries it is standard for CVs to contain a photo of the person, date of birth, nationality etc. These can easily be incorporated and do not affect the content / wording of the CV, which is the important part.
I am a Law Student - can you help me?
Yes! Helping law students and graduates secure entry level positions, training contracts or paralegal positions is one of my passions. I have been there, I know how tough it is – so that is why I want to use my industry expertise to better your chances of securing an interview with a stand-out CV!
Why should I place an order with you?
Because I have all the credentials to back-up / support my offering: I am a qualified legal professional, career coach and experienced CV writer. I know not only what law firms and or legal employers expect to see in a Law CV but also understand the psychology behind CV writing in general.
